Why Pardot and Salesforce?

Pardot is a B2B(Business-to-Business) marketing automation by Salesforce that offers several automations such as email automation,Targeted email campaigns and lead management for sales and marketing organizations.

When Pardot and Salesforce combine they allow you to standardized your sales process .Whenever it is connected all the data is transferred between two platforms, so if any information is updated on either platform will sync over to another platform as well.

Pardot  & Salesforce Syncing Identifiers:

Sync Unique Identifier:

There are two unique sync identifier:

  • Email  ID – prior to june 14,2016

  • CRM ID – after june 14,2016

  • Only 1 verified Salesforce connector per Pardot org allowed you cannot connect multiple Salesforce or two-word part organizations.

Syncing Prospect Between Pardot and Salesforce

Pardot allows you to sync Lead ,Contact ,Account , Campaigns , Email Activity and Custom Objects with Salesforce .Before Syncing up a custom field make sure that is mapped completely .For Pardot to sync prospect with a Salesforce you must have an existing lead or contact record that has a matching email address or have a prospect sync to salesforce ,by assigning to user .

There are various ways in which you can assign a user to  prospect record in pardot:

  • Automation rule

  • Completion Action,

  • Using Salesforce

  • Active Assignment Rule

In the image it is shown that there exists a bidirectional relationship b/w the prospect of pardot and lead of Salesforce any change in prospect will reflect in the lead of salesforce which means Pardot will sync the prospect record with lead record . On the other hand if there is any change in lead record ,it will also reflect in the prospect record . Similarly there also exist a bidirectional relation between Prospect record of Pardot and Contact record of Salesforce .Pardot Uses the email Address as unique Identifier  to identify the  prospect or lead records, this means to create a prospect record in Pardot you must have an email address of a Prospect .Pardot check for changes in salesforce and in pardot in every 2 min.If you are updating a large volume of data at a time then it will take longer time to sync.

Install Pardot AppExchange Package to a Salesforce Org

  • Open  https://pardot-appexchange.herokuapp.com/

  • Select the Production Environment 

  • Login in to Salesforce Org with your Credentials

  • Choose for Admin Install and Install.

  • In the pop-up check yes, Grant excess to the third party websites

  • Click on Continue and Done.

  • At last you will get email with subject line “Package Install Successfully”

Give Permission Set To The Connector User

  • Go to setup ,enter permission sets in the Quick Find Box click the Permission sets.

  • Click Pardot Connector User in the table

  • Click the Manage Assignments and add Assignments

  • Select the user to whom you want to apply the permission sets

  • Click Assign and Done.

Set Up the Salesforce Connector in Pardot

  • Login in to Pardot

  • Navigate to Admin Connectors

  • Click Add connector 

  • Click Salesforce.com and Create connector

  • Login into salesforce using the connector’s user credential

  • Click Allow to give the connector user access to your account.

  • Choose your connector settings.

  • Click Finish.
